When arriving in Gozo — at Mgarr Harbour or the Gozo Heliport — follow the signs to Rabat (or take Arriva Bus 301). At Rabat, also known as Victoria, proceed up the main street (triq in Maltese) triq ir-repubblika, to pjazza indipendenza, known locally as it-tokk, the town’s main square lined with ficus nitida trees. it-telgha tal-belt, the road up to the Citadel, runs from its northwest corner. If driving, continue to the next square, pjazza savina. Take the first road on the right and then turn first right again, into triq il-kastell, which will lead you round a hair-pin bend to beneath the walls. There are a few parking places beneath the fortifications. The pedestrian may climb a flight of steps that leads to the gate in front of the pjazza tal-katidral, the Cathedral Square. Arriva Bus 321 (Circular) from the Arriva terminus and other points in Victoria (Rabat) goes up to the Cathedral Square.
